Families' Christmas traditions : Cookie parties

Baking cookies is part and parcel of the typical American Christmas traditions. However, beyond the tasty smell and delicious taste of these fancy biscuits, cookies can be a way to share and bring together generations.

We'll let Ashley tell us a little more on how cookies play an important role in her family's Christmas. Mother to Amelia and expecting a boy, she loves to share both on her blog and Instagram account.

Each year, a few days before Christmas, all the women in our family get together for a cookie party which now includes four generations of women! We all bring different types of homemade cookies to exchange with one another. This way each family has tons of cookie options to try and serve over the holidays. While at the party, we also decorate with frosting and sprinkles and enjoy a meal together.

As our families have extended, we use this time to get together before Christmas and celebrate the season. It is an opportunity to catch up with those we do not alway see. We look forward to this cookie party each year and always look back on the photos.

Here is one of our special recipes, it is called the Italian wedding cookie. It's a favorite for Christmas because the colors of the Italy's flag are those of the festive season!
